As some of you might already know, I have been in my transition journey for a year now and I'm going by the name "Chava" with She/Her pronouns. Others might still recognize me as Betty Fresas, my drag persona that has allowed me to explore my gender and pay my bills for the last 8 years.

In less than a month, I will be going through my first surgery in order to affirm my gender and I am very excited and grateful for friends and family, like yourself, who have been supportive and welcoming of this change. Unfortunately, that means that I will not be able to work as a drag performer for a few months while I recover. This means no Media Noche at Midnight Sun, Encanto at Badlands or any other venue I regularly perform at for 8 weeks. I have always been so thankful for all the FRESAS who have continued to support me in all my shows and I call on all of you to help me with some of my expenses during this time.

If there is any amount that you can contribute to this cause, I will be so grateful and it will help ease some of the stress of being out of commission for this time. Thankfully, I have a family who will help support me during recovery but my rent and housing bills will need to be covered. This amounts to about $5,000 for the two months I will be recovering.
