With a heavy heart, I'm writing this to help raise funds for visitation and cremation of my best friend in the whole world - Cassie Schrader very unexpectedly passed away and joined the angels on Sunday evening around 6pm. At this point in time, family is still waiting on full autopsy report, but it's believed she had a seizure she did not come out of.

Cassie had the most incredible heart & beautiful soul. She fought for her life 9 years ago when she was in a tragic car accident with a semi-truck on highway 30 in Benton County just days before our Jr Prom & the birth of her niece, that cause a TBI (traumatic brain injury) & against all odds she made an incredible recovery, after multiple surgeries and lengthy hospital stays.

Cassie went on to be the same loving, silly, sassy girl we all knew & loved.

In November of 2021 she gave birth to her daughter Sophia Ida Leigh Schrader at St Lukes hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

From that day till her last day, Cassie loved that little girl with her whole heart and soul, day in and day out. Cassie worked a part time job here and there, but for the most part she was a stay-at-home mom (which from our facetime conversations seemed like a fulltime job in its own ... she was always chasing her around the house)

due to her not having a full-time job with benefits & being so young and not investing in a life insurance policy, the bill for the end-of-life services is totaling up right now at $13,000 and falling on the shoulders of her family who just lost their daughter, sister, auntie, and mother.

any excess funds raised will go towards the continued care of Sophia, by her sister Kayla Schrader and her parents, Becky & Larry Schrader - as well as Cassie's boyfriend Shawn & starting her a savings account. No $ amount would be enough to compensate for the loss of a mother, but it would be an incredible gift for Sophia when she is older to come from her mama.

Cassie's visitation will be Friday May 23rd at Teahen funeral home ( 3100 F Ave NW Cedar Rapids ) from 3pm-7pm , all who knew and loved Cassie are welcome to please come say goodbye to our sweet friend taken too soon.
