06/07/2025 - Update

It’s been one month since our lives changed. The love and support still continues and we are so thankful. He has come a long way but the journey is still long. The OT/PT therapists and doctors are all amazing and they are all pleased with his progress thus far. Please continue to pray and send those good vibes his way.

The love and support we have received means so much to us. Words can’t express our gratitude.

I want to give a brief update on Carroll. He is still in Philly for at least three more weeks working on core strength, learning how to transfer from bed to chair/chair to bed. They are starting to work on leg strengthening but as of today, he still doesn’t have mobility. His spirit and determination is still high and I believe he will overcome this.

The journey will be long but he has an army of support behind him.

For those who have donated, THANK YOU! We know times are hard for everyone so if you can’t donate please share and if you are the praying type, please keeps those prayers coming!

Love,
Margaret

Hello! My name is Margaret Nicholson and my husband, Carroll Nicholson Jr., suffered what they believe is spinal shock after a 10-hour spinal fusion on May 7th. Everything was going great until the last hour when they were inserting the rod. I was told by his surgeon that Carroll jolted, and at that moment, he lost all mobility signals. The last 16 days have been an emotional whirlwind. Carroll is currently 2 1/2 hours away from home at Magee Rehab in Philly, where they specialize in spinal cord injuries. He currently has no mobility and is undergoing 3-hour therapy sessions five days a week. I am commuting every weekend and staying local until he is released.

We aren’t the type to ask for help, but since this was unexpected and his healing journey is now a day-by-day healing victory, we are asking for help in any way that you can. No amount is too small. We understand that times are hard for everyone. If you cannot donate, please pray, send good vibes, good juju.

A little back story of my personal superhero: Carroll broke his back for the first time in 2007. He was diagnosed with MS in 2009 and broke his back for the second time in 2012. He is a full-time truck driver and a volunteer firefighter, making Firefighter of the Year 2024. He was the breadwinner, and although we knew he would be out for 3 months before this unexpected spinal cord injury, we never planned on him being out even longer or possibly never returning to the career that he loved.

Thank you for reading and considering a donation.
