Seeking Support for My Recovery Journey

My name is Carla, and for years, I’ve been dedicated to empowering young people through mentorship and sports, helping them develop important life skills. But since last August, my life took an unexpected turn due to a serious hip condition that affected my ability to walk and move freely. After multiple medical consultations, I was diagnosed with Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI), a condition where the bones in my hips rub abnormally, causing damage to the cartilage and labrum—the ligament that stabilizes the joint. This led to a labral tear and significant cartilage deterioration, making even simple daily activities painful.

To regain my mobility and return to the life I love, I underwent two major surgeries, one in December for my right hip and another in February for my left. My recovery has required intensive physical and aquatic therapy several times a week, and though I’ve made progress, I still have a long road ahead.

Beyond the physical challenges, the medical expenses have been overwhelming, including tests, surgeries, and ongoing therapy.
