- My name is Camilo Morales. I am a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service and a USMC veteran. On January 31st at 6 am, I was hit by a car while walking in the crosswalk at the intersection of Sepulveda and Montana in the city of Brentwood. The driver of the car did not stop and left me on the street to die. Luckily for me, a witness chased the car down and got his license plate number, and several witnesses gave the LAPD a statement. I was transported to UCLA Medical Center by paramedics because I sustained a hematoma to my head and a hematoma to my left leg, which caused internal bleeding in my leg. I had to undergo emergency surgery to stop and drain the bleeding in my leg to prevent a blood clot. I was hospitalized for 9 days and now I am still recovering from my injuries. I am unable to get back to work because I am still using a walker to get around and I am receiving physical therapy. I am in danger of becoming homeless and being on the streets with my kids and our dog because I cannot pay my rent, bills, or buy food for my family or dog because the disability is not even enough to cover my rent. I have been out of work since January 31st and have no timeline on when I will be able to work again. I am requesting this money for my family to be able to survive and not become homeless until I am able to return to work and hopefully to receive some kind of help with my medical bills and lost wages from the driver's insurance company. Please help save us from being homeless. I am a hardworking mail carrier and dad who was going to work every day to provide for my family before this tragic accident happened.
