On Tuesday, 12/16, my husband Brian took a terrible fall down the stairs here at our home. He broke his foot in four places and had a compound fracture of the fibula that came through the skin and muscles of his leg, and it was pretty terrifying. The local ambulance transported him to the firehouse where he was then life-flighted to Ruby Memorial in Morgantown, WV. He was quickly assessed and rushed into surgery. He has lots of screws, plates, and rods in his foot and leg, but he is stable. Brian has a very long road of healing in front of him. The doctors told us to expect 4-6 months minimum. The trauma surgeon said Brian almost completely tore his foot off and out of socket. This has been such a horribly scary time for both of us.
We are coming to you, our friends and family, to ask for your much-needed help. Brian will need specialized medical equipment here at home not covered by insurance, plus there are all the doctor, hospital, and physical therapy bills, as well as just daily living expenses and food. I am so sorry to come to you during Christmas time with this request, but we truly have no choice. Brian does plan on returning to teaching guitar on Zoom and at Foley's as soon as he is medically able, but we just don't know when that will be. I have been unemployed since June with Multiple Sclerosis and Dysautonomia (PoTS), which are both severe and have made me unemployable. Anything you could give would be such a blessing! No amount is too small! If you can't give monetarily, please consider praying to the God you believe in and sharing this post so it reaches as many people as possible. You all have been so good to Brian and me in the past, and we love you all and cherish you dearly. We need you now—badly. I know Brian dreams of coming and playing for you all again once he gets past this. With all our love and gratitude.
