Aid Brian's Family: Battling Health and Hardship
Donation protected
I am raising funds for a friend from my high school years who is really down on his luck. He is now homeless and trying to get by.
Here is his story.
Divorced father of two
19-year-old son
13-year-old daughter
Numerous health issues, most importantly, type two diabetes, sleep apnea, spinal stenosis, asthma, severe depression, recovering opioid addiction, spinal fusion, extreme allergies to anything with hair, fur, feathers, etc. Good with fish though.
Tried my best to have my children grow up to be kind and contributing members of society. Right before Covid hit, I had a stroke and then a week later a second stroke. They say it was mostly stress-related, but who knows. I believe the reason for my divorce was 90% due to my opioid addiction. I haven’t used any in years, but I still crave them. I was driving full-time for Uber in my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid and making decent money until the transmission went out and it was no longer under warranty, so I could not come up with the $15,000 to repair it. It’s still sitting in my driveway for one and a half years now. In order to make an income, I started working through Uber’s marketplace rental program where I would have to pay $550 per week to drive. They would give me promotions to make some of that back, but I still needed a vehicle, so that’s why I chose to drive a rental for Uber. When my mother was unable to take care of herself, we had to put her into a nursing facility, and her Social Security that was going a little bit towards our rent ended because it went fully to her nursing home. I was awarded maintenance because my ex-wife made much more money than me, and that helped, but that ended right about the time when Covid struck. So I was unable to pay rent, and I was just trying to plug along and find the next option, and then it just kept snowballing and snowballing, and I am completely in debt. I think I owe my landlord 11 months of rent at $1950 per month. In May 2024, I was involved in a hit-and-run accident and was unable to work for about a month, so that added to it as well. I love my kids, and I am ashamed that I am unable to provide for them.
