Aid Brian Henderson's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Stacey Strickler, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my beloved nephew, Brian C. Henderson, who is on a challenging road to recovery after a sudden and life-altering medical emergency.
A few weeks ago, Brian — a healthy, vibrant 46-year-old, devoted father and high school football coach — was rushed to the hospital with sudden numbness, muscle weakness, and difficulty breathing. Within 48 hours, his condition worsened so quickly that he was placed on a ventilator and admitted to the ICU.
Doctors have since diagnosed Brian with Miller Fisher Syndrome, a rare variant of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) that attacks the nervous system and causes muscle paralysis, loss of coordination, and impaired eye movement.
Since then, Brian has undergone numerous procedures, including the placement of a tracheostomy and a feeding tube, and has spent over two weeks in intensive care. He is now in the early stages of neurological and physical recovery and has started physical and occupational therapy. While he remains hospitalized, he is showing signs of progress — becoming more alert, communicating with family, responding to commands, and slowly regaining movement.
Through all of this, his mother — my sister — has been by his side every day. As a retired woman, she has taken on the full-time role of caregiver and advocate, managing his care, making medical decisions, and preparing for what will likely be a long rehabilitation journey ahead.
Our family is trusting God and remaining hopeful, but the financial burden continues to grow. We are asking for your support — whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or simply keeping Brian in your prayers.
Your support will help cover:
Ongoing medical bills and specialized treatments not covered by insurance
Health insurance premiums, which alone are approximately $1,700/month
Physical and occupational therapy to support his long-term recovery
Legal and caregiver-related costs during his hospitalization
Living expenses and caregiver support for his mother while she cares for him full-time
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the love, encouragement, and generosity that have already surrounded Brian and our family. Every prayer, every gift, every kind word — it all makes a difference.
Thank you for walking with us during this time of recovery and restoration.
With love and gratitude,
Brian's Family
