Support Brandy's Journey: A Fight Against Breast Cancer

Last year, Brandy faced an unexpected and life-changing challenge when she became a single parent. Just as she was finding her footing, she was confronted with another shock: a diagnosis of early-stage breast cancer. Initially, we hoped for a straightforward treatment process, but things quickly took a more serious turn.

Due to her family history, Brandy's doctor recommended an MRI of both breasts, which revealed several concerning areas. This prompted a series of five separate biopsies, each one more difficult than the last. Unfortunately, the results showed that cancer had spread across both breasts, leading to the difficult decision to undergo a full bilateral mastectomy.

The surgery uncovered an additional undetected stage 2 invasive carcinoma, but on a positive note, that too has been removed. Brandy is now awaiting the results of her PET scan to determine if there are any signs of metastasis.

Recently, she faced yet another hurdle when her incision began healing improperly, leading to an emergency surgery to clean her chest cavity and prevent infection. Thankfully, the procedure was successful, and she is now gearing up for what we hope will be her final surgery—reconstruction—scheduled for next month. This will be a major surgery requiring at least a three-day hospital stay, and the recovery will be the longest yet. With needed to take extended time off from work through this journey so far. It has taken a toll financially.
