Aid Brandy Emerson's Journey to Recovery

Hi, my name is Ferida Penzes. I am raising money for our friend's daughter. Her name is Brandy Emerson. On July 28, Brandy Emerson was rushed to Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster, TX. She was in critical condition because of a "Thyroid Storm." That night, she coded twice and was brought back. The morning of July 29, she was transferred to HCA Hospital in Houston. HCA sent a life flight crew via ambulance to transfer her due to all the equipment she was hooked up to, which wouldn't fit in the helicopter. Because of the Thyroid Storm, she suffered heart, lung, kidney, and liver damage. Brandy was on total life support and dialysis for several weeks. The doctors told the family that due to the lack of blood flow to her extremities, there's still a possibility she may lose several fingers and toes. Brandy underwent surgery to remove her thyroid. During the surgery, they had to give her blood transfusions and platelets. Her breathing tube has been removed, and she had to get a tracheotomy. She is slowly recovering, but the road to recovery will require a lot of rehab. Although Brandy has insurance, the hospital stay, procedures, and the surgery have accumulated a lot of costs on her part. This will be a great financial burden for her and her family.
