Hi, my name is Laura and I have set this page up for my brother, Brandon. My hope is to find support in the community for his journey in his recent and unexpected amputation of his leg and toes on the other foot. Since 2023 Brandon has made numerous trips to the hospital starting with a five way bypass heart surgery in July, then infections in the heart and Gastro problems which caused him to lose 45 pounds. Brandon has diabetes which caused his infection to set in the bones that lead to the amputation on the left leg and all the toes on the right foot.

Brandon is a husband, father, brother, son, and friend to many. His heath journey started many years ago when he was diagnosed with diabetes. Now since 2023 Brandon has been in and out of the hospital and rehab facilities many time. The in between time he is being treated by home heath and rehab nurses. In 2023 he under went a 5 way heart bypass, then infection set in the heart wound and extended his stay in the hospital by several weeks, then shortly after that he came down with gastroparesis, which put him back in the hospital many times which caused him severe stomach pains. The stomach issues is what caused the 45 pounds weight loss. Next for him came seizures from his sugars levels being over 600, which caused him to have a short term memory loss, several times over the next few months. Then being confined to bed caused him to start with heal ulcers, and from that he started with infection in the bones. After that he had to have his small toe on the left foot and a piece of a bone on the same foot amputated. Then soon after that another piece of bone had to be removed. He was on IV antibiotics at home 3 times a day through out all of this going on with him. The antibiotics did not take care of the infection that was in the feet which lead to it spreading to the bones in his feet. He went back to the hospital bleeding from his feet. The ER did many X-ray’s, MRI’s, and bloodwork, which lead to the amputation 2 days later. He spent a week in the hospital and 2 1/2 weeks in rehab and is now at home trying to learn to move around with a wheelchair, until he is healed enough so he can stand on his right foot. He will get to have a prosthetic leg down the road , but that will be months out.

Now his wife, mother, and daughter have become his full time care providers. With that we have needed many handicaps items for the home and ramps for the parking lot where they live. They are also having to transport him several times a week to doctors appointments and therapy appointments.

Brandon over the last 1 1/2 years has tried several times to go to work, but each time has only lasted a short period due to his illness. This has put a sever financial strain on the family., and now they had to purchase all his items out of pocket due to insurance not covering them.

I am asking for help to cover his medical and daily living expenses. They are needing help to get back on track with their bills and medical supplies.
