Aid Brandon Cross in His Fight for Health

Update #1: Sunday 5/18/25
After a meeting with the doctors team this morning, this is what the update is:

Brandon is in Stage 2 Renal failure. His O2 drops when he is either sleeping or moving so he has to be on oxygen at night and when he walking around.

They will be taking biopsy’s of his kidneys and lungs to see if there is something else going on. They also believe he has Pulmonary Renal Syndrome in addition to the EGPA, which there will be more testing for.

All in all Brandon is doing much better, but isn’t out of the woods yet. There are still a lot of tests to be done to get the cause of what happened. Please keep praying and keep the Cross’s in your thoughts!

Brief Synopsis:
24 year old Brandon Cross (son of Andrew and Kelley Cross of Rutland) are looking for your help. Last week Brandon was having a hard time breathing. After trying different medicines, Kelley took him to the ER on Saturday morning. Brandon was full of fluid, O2 stats were down, BP was high and there were many unknowns. He was admitted to Rutland Regional Medical Center that night and after many tests, they still had no idea what was causing this. Congestive Heart Failure, ARDS, and a couple other things have been mentioned.
Andrew Cross is a respected Lt. at the Rutland County Sheriff’s Department. Kelley has been at the very center of many local causes. She is the first one to take up a torch for someone she loves, and for causes that affect us all. Brandon is a well known and respected Security Officer at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
On Monday 5/12, Brandon was scheduled for a Bronchoscopy and some biopsies of his lungs. While doing the procedure, Brandon’s Oxygen levels plummeted and the procedure was not able to be done. Since then, he has been heavily sedated and intubated. On Wednesday evening 5/14, Brandon was flown to Dartmouth.

Preliminary from Dartmouth:
When Brandon arrived, his left lung was still deflated and was on 100% O2. They are thinking that this is a rare disease called EGPA (Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), formerly known as Churg-Strauss syndrome, is a rare form of vasculitis that causes inflammation in small and medium-sized blood vessels. This inflammation can damage organs throughout the body, particularly the lungs, but also the skin, heart, kidneys, nerves, and gastrointestinal tract. EGPA is characterized by elevated levels of eosinophils, a type of white blood cell, and is often associated with asthma, allergic rhinitis, and sinusitis. ) They also said that he has Vasculitis and has also acquired Pneumonia. There is still a test that has to be performed to confirm the EGPA but the Doctors there are confident this is what he has.

We will give updates as they come in and hopefully they will continue to at least get answers.

How you can help:
This Go-Fund me will be for traveling to and from Dartmouth, food while there, and any medical expenses that Brandon will acquire during this difficult time.

We also realize that there are some that do not like to donate VIA Go-Fund Me, so we will also be taking any VISA Cards, Gift Cards, or cash at the Rutland County Sheriff’s Department at 88 Grove St, Rutland VT.
