Aid Beth's Healing Journey From Breast Cancer Surgery

Hello, I’m Sarah, Beth’s sister.

In November, Beth was diagnosed with breast cancer. They found three masses. Since they are all in different places, the oncologist recommended she get a double mastectomy. As scary as this was for Beth to hear, she agreed that this was what should happen. Her surgery is coming up on Feb 18. The doctor has informed her she will have an 8-week recovery period. She cannot lift over a certain weight or lift her arms up extensively. Needless to say, she will be unable to work for the full recovery time.

Beth has been working in the service industry for many years. She does it because she loves it. She loves to interact and make people happy. Unfortunately, in this business, it does not offer paid time off.

Beth is a hardworking, single mom who would do anything to help anyone out, but she has a hard time asking when she needs it. With not being able to work for two months, she has expressed how much stress this is putting on her. She is having anxiety about how she will be able to pay her extra medical, rent, and bills. She does not need this piling up on her when going through a major surgery. That alone is frightening enough.
