My name is Basil, and I am a chronically ill transgender man living in an extremely unhealthy environment with a stepfather that is not only extremely emotionally abusive, but also: • Sexually assaulted me • Threatens to kick me out on a frequent basis, leaving me at constant risk of homelessness. • Refuses to take care of the house, meaning it is falling apart, there are mice droppings in the oven and maggots in the food, etc. The ceiling upstairs Ieaks so badly my table has started rotting from the water damage • Threatens to harm my animals • Goes into fits of rage and throws things around the house. All the while my mother tries to keep me stuck VIA fear tactics and manipulation. I've tried and failed to move out on numerous occasions, but I will be leaving the house this year regardless of how much money I have. I am constantly at risk of being kicked out not just for who I am, but for speaking out against his abuse. Waiting is no longer an option. Update: I unfortunately could not move in August like I had originally planned. however, my partner and I will be getting an apartment together a good ways away from my current home within the next few months!!
