Help Us Support Baby Arlo Through His NICU Journey
Dear friends and family,
Our sweet baby boy, Arlo, made his entrance into the world just after midnight on February 25th, and from the very start, he has proven to be a fighter.
We knew he would be small, but when we went in for induction, we learned he was in distress. An emergency C-section brought him safely into our arms, but it wasn’t until after his birth that we discovered just how much he had been battling. Arlo’s umbilical cord had not one, but two true knots—a rare and dangerous complication. Because of this, he required immediate resuscitation, but our little warrior pulled through.
At just 3 lbs 9 oz, Arlo has continued to show incredible strength. Due to his complex medical needs, he was transferred to a Level III NICU an hour from our home, where he has been receiving specialized care. On March 2nd, he underwent surgery for intestinal atresia (a bowel disconnect). The surgeons were able to repair the issue, and while he now has two stomas, they will be closed once he reaches at least 4.5 lbs and has normal bowel function. We are incredibly grateful that, once healed, Arlo is expected to have completely normal bowel function.
3/6 Mri was completed, came back perfectly normal for his age. Arlo needed a blood transfusion. They think he is losing too much blood thru his ostomy bag. He is on Cpap, he is having a hard time breathing room air. They've been trying to take him off of it for days with no success. Little Arlo still hasn't begun to start eating yet.
4/4
Arlo is doing good. He has begun eating and is able to eat as much as he wants! He is on room air and off of all IV fluids. At this point, we are just waiting on his surgery to put his stomas back together before we can go home.
The Road Ahead
Arlo will remain in the NICU for several more weeks as he recovers and grows. He is already making amazing progress.
How You Can Help
As we focus on Arlo’s healing, we are also facing the realities of an extended hospital stay—time away from work, long drives, and extra expenses. Many have asked how they can support us, and right now, help with travel, meals, and daily needs would mean the world to us.
If you’re able to donate, your support will go toward:
Gas and travel expenses for hospital visits
Meals and daily necessities while we’re away from home
Household bills while we focus on Arlo’s recovery
Your Love & Support Mean Everything
Most of all, we ask for prayers—for Arlo’s healing, for strength as a family, and for the day we can finally bring him home. Every message, prayer, and share of this page means so much to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us and our sweet Arlo. We are so blessed to have you in our lives.
With love and gratitude,
The Redmons
