Aid Axyl's Healing Journey and Family Needs

Donation protected
I am Annaka Elder, Courtney Teresi's sister and Tim Teresi's sister in law. On Saturday, March 8, 2025, we gathered as a family to celebrate Axyl and his decision to be baptized and show his devotion to Jesus Christ.

As Axyl came up out of the water of his baptism, he took a weird gasping breath. I first thought he was just being his full-of-life self. However, it was the beginning of heart arrhythmia that led to a full cardiac arrest. By the time he stood at the top of the stairs of the font, he collapsed. His father opened the side door and called my sister in. Thankfully, her previous job was as a CNA in the transplant and trauma unit in an excellent hospital. Her 20+ years of experience helped her save her son's life until the first responders arrived.

We believe in miracles, in the power of prayer, and in God's beautiful plan. And we have seen so many miracles these past two weeks. They now know from genetic tests why a healthy 8-year-old boy went into cardiac arrest. This has led to him being in Primary Children's Hospital for the 11 days. They were able to safely send them home with the right medications and a portable defibrillator. Something no mother or father should have to worry about. But he has Long QT Type 1 syndrome, which means this event could be only the first such event in his life.

We have been doing our best to feed them and help them during the last few weeks at the hospital. We are seeking extra funds to help offset lost hours at work and fuel and food prices while in the hospital. Courtney is a contract employee, so she has no leave to use. Tim has used some of his this last week, and Courtney was off with no leave during parts of Axyl's stay at the hospital. We do not know what the co-pay will be yet for all the medical teams, the 3 ambulances that arrived with all 6 EMT's and 2 officers working to bring back his pulse and keep him alive until his heart was shocked back into rhythm, the first hospital E.R. visit, the Life Flight costs, and the extended hospital stay at Primary's with lots of tests, tests, tests, tests. So I will update the goal with hopes that we can help this family weather this storm of bills that will be rolling in to complicate the healing process moving forward.

If you are able to donate anything, I know they will be so grateful for the financial help, if you can't, they would love your prayers for their family and Axyl's continued care.

Thank you so much for all the love, support, kindness, prayers and fasting on behalf of Axyl and his family. I am happy to say he is home and just started back into school 2 days ago. He has many more doctor appointments in his future to ensure he can live a full life with this now known condition.

Thank you!
