Our sweet Athena has been in and out of the ER vet this week, and it has taken a tremendous toll on our household. She had been involved in an incident with another dog where initially we thought it was only a few surface-level cuts that could be quickly cleaned and taken care of at home. A day after the incident, we noticed a larger gash on her leg and immediately took her to the emergency room vet to get her seen as soon as possible. The vets have noted recurring necrosis from our checkups, even with cutting away the dead tissue and dressing the wound accordingly to help it heal. Unfortunately, in this situation, the monetary strain it has already taken on us is becoming overwhelming. It's incredibly difficult to ask for help, but she deserves everything we can give her. She is actively on painkillers and antibiotics for her healing process; we just need to be sure she can keep receiving the care she needs to fully heal.
