On Friday, our world turned upside down when our 3-year-old dog, Athena, was rushed to the emergency vet and diagnosed with bloat (GDV) — a life-threatening condition where a dog’s stomach flips. Without immediate surgery, she would not have survived.
We didn’t hesitate. Athena was taken straight into emergency surgery, where the vets were able to correct the stomach flip and save her life. We are incredibly grateful she pulled through, but the cost of that lifesaving decision came with a heavy financial burden.
Athena is more than just a dog — she is part of our family. She is amazing with our kids, gentle, loyal, and full of personality. Anyone who knows her knows how special she is. She just turned 3 years old, and we couldn’t imagine our family without her.
The total cost of Athena’s emergency surgery and care came to $12,000, which we had to place on CareCredit to save her life. While we would make that decision again without question, the balance is overwhelming for our family.
We are asking for help to cover Athena’s emergency medical expenses. Any donation — no matter how small — would mean the world to us. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser is a huge help.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Athena and our family during this incredibly difficult time.
