Aid Athena's Healing from a Severe Wound
Donation protected
Meet Athena. Athena is our 6 and half year old Cane Corso. One morning around 2:15AM Athena was chasing a rabbit in the back yard as most dogs do, and slid into a log with a large splinter. Athena was taken to the closest emergency vet 30 minutes away. An anesthetic was administered upon arrival. Athena fought the anesthesia as any strong willed corso would. Once the anesthetic finally took effect the wound was cleaned, and a drain tube was put in place. The wound was then closed back up. She was prescribed antibiotics to be taken daily with the drain tube needing to
be emptied several times daily over the weekend. The wound was then completely closed and over the course of a few days, we began to see signs of infection. Athena was brought back to the vet where the wound would need to be packed by hand daily, which required daily anesthesia and vet trips for a week. They were able to gain control of the infection and ultimately Athena was sewn back up and is now healing as she should. With the procedures and anesthetic this accident resulted in almost $10,000 worth of bills. Any support is appreciated as we don’t usually like asking for help. Anything helps, even just sharing our link to spread the word. Thank you!
