Aid Ashley's Recovery: Long Road Ahead
Donation protected
Hello Everyone! I've decided to start a fundraiser for Ashley Hensley who is preparing for a pretty extensive back surgery. For those that don't know, Ashley injured her back a few years back when lifting something heavy and has had issues on and off since. About 3 weeks ago she started having extreme pain and weakness in her legs and had an emergent MRI that showed a severely herniated disc at the L5 S1 level. She has since then had a consult with a orthopedic spine surgery where we learned that the herniated disc is so severe that it is all pressing into her spinal cord and the 2 vertebrae are seeing signs of deterioration from sitting on top of one another (instead of having cushion between them). The surgeon was certain that surgery would help correct this issue, however the recovery process is going to be a very long. As most of you know Ashley is a very humble person who does not like to ask for help, but this surgery combined with not being able to work has her stressed. She is unable to work in the next month before surgery due to how severe the herniation is and risk of injuring herself further and the surgeon is saying she will not be able to return to work after surgery for at least 3 months. Although most of her surgery is going to be financially taken care of with insurance assistance, she is going to have a few things that are not covered by insurance that she will need to have for surgery, plus the expenses of bills/basic necessities, and physical therapy copays to worry about while being off work. My hope is that I can raise some money for her to help her during her recovery and to ease her mind so that she can focus on healing and getting back to 100%. I'm sure she would be so thankful for any amount that is donated to her and if given the opportunity I believe would return the favor in the future! Things that the money would be used for including: DME(durable medical equipment) that is not a covered service with her insurance. These are things that will be used for surgery and recovery like a back brace, walker, chair arms for toilet, bath chair, bed rails, etc. We are also trying to look into getting some of these things donated if we can. The copay for each physical therapy visit is $75 dollars with her current insurance. Along with bills and groceries for the next 4 months. Again, thank you for any donation you can make and most of all remember Ashley in your prayers as she starts her healing journey! Share her story so that we can get as many prayers going for her as possible.
