Help Support Our Daughter, Son-in-Law, and Grandkids in Their Struggle with Chronic Illnesses
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,
Update 1/13/2025 We are currently waiting on insurance approval for Hospice, on Friday Jan. 10, 2025 Ashley's doctor has stated she needs more home care from visiting nurses and add AIDS to assist with daily functions. Thank you to everyone that has donated, prayed and sent positive messages.
Since 2020, we have been doing everything we can to support our daughter, son-in-law, and their three young children. As they navigate an incredibly challenging journey with chronic illnesses, we have been there for them every step of the way, but the financial strain has become overwhelming. Our savings have been depleted, and despite our best efforts, we are in desperate need of assistance to help them get the support they need.
Our daughter, Ashley, has been battling a number of serious medical conditions, including acute on chronic lung failure, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia, POTS, dysautonomia, ADHD, autism, seizures, and more. Her condition has left her unable to care for herself or her children, which has placed an enormous burden on her husband, who works and is doing everything he can to balance his duties while providing full-time care to his family, but the physical, emotional, and financial toll is unsustainable.
In 2019, our daughter was diagnosed with EDS, POTS, and dysautonomia, which were triggered by hormonal changes during her second pregnancy. In 2021, while pregnant with her youngest daughter, Kenzie, her health began to decline rapidly. The constant pain and the deterioration of her mental health have made daily life a struggle. She now lives with relentless chronic pain that has severely impacted her quality of life.
In October 2022, a sinus infection turned into something much worse, leading to severe breathing issues. After being prescribed steroids, she developed Cushing’s Syndrome, a life-threatening condition. If she attempts to stop the steroids, she risks respiratory failure and often needs life support. Every time she has tried to reduce her steroid dosage, it has led to hospitalization, requiring oxygen, BiPAP, IV steroids, antibiotics, and constant monitoring.
At home, she uses portable oxygen and now relies on high-flow nasal cannula during the day and BiPAP at night. The long-term use of steroids, constant hospitalizations, and the inability to care for herself have left her with severe weight gain, muscle weakness, bone brittleness, and a loss of independence. The emotional and physical toll has been devastating for her and her family.
We have been supporting them financially for years, but the mounting medical expenses and the increasing need for home care have drained our savings, and we’re asking for your help. Your support, whether it’s a donation, a prayer, or positive thoughts, will go directly toward covering medical bills, home care, and other essential needs that our daughter and her family are struggling to meet.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering how you might help. Your generosity means more than words can express, and we are deeply grateful for your support as we work together to make sure they receive the assistance they so desperately need.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Mike & Connie
