Arturo is a very active 14 year old. He is not only good academically, but he also loves to play in his middle school band as well as jazz. He also loves to play football, basketball and track for Highland. Arturo started to feel slight headaches a few weeks ago which was thought to be associated with allergies. On Saturday May 31st he was rushed to the hospital with vomiting and major headaches, he was discharged and early morning Sunday he went back to the ER. On Monday June 2nd he was seen by his primary care team where after leaving the facility was taken to the Yakima ER, where he suffered a seizure. He was quickly sent in for imaging where they discovered he had an egg sized mass in his brain. He was flown via helicopter to Tacoma's Mary Bridge pediatric center ICU, for further labs and deeper imaging showed what seemed to be a cyst. On June 3rd he was taken in to get the cyst surgically removed where it was discovered he had a small tumor attached to his pituitary gland. They removed the cyst but as the tumor is attached to the gland that controls many of his hormones, they could not remove the whole tumor. Further analysis will be made on the pieces retrieved from the tumor in his brain to ensure they are not cancerous or growing.
I ask for any help, any and all funds will be used to cover expenses for food, travel, room and board if applicable, bills as well as other items that may be needed in the days to come. In these times we ask for prayers that everything comes out ok and he can soon be home living his active lifestyle with his mom, dad, 2 sisters and brother. Thank you for your time and consideration.
