For over 30 years, my dear auntie, Angie Galdamez, has helped the poorest, homeless children in Guatemala. She created Casa Guatemala, an orphanage in Livingston, Guatemala, for babies and kids up to 18 years old. I visited this orphanage in 1993 and helped take care of the children for a week. It was hard work and heartbreaking at times to see these beautiful kids that had been abandoned by society, longing for a home. But Angie gave them hope, and because of her and her outreach, hundreds of children were adopted by wonderful families from all over the world.
Angie had to leave the orphanage because of a dangerous heart condition that she is struggling with. She lives with a friend who is a retired doctor in Guatemala City. It's important that she is close to her doctors, can get the medicine and care that she needs, and that she is surrounded by loving friends and acquaintances.
This GoFundMe is to help my aunt pay for her doctor's visits, medical bills, and ongoing medications that she will need for the rest of her life. Many people have been blessed by her hard work over the years. She has been an angel to the children and the families that long for children of their own.
Sometimes our elders don't have the resources they need in their older years, especially in third-world countries where health insurance and retirement funds are non-existent. I pray that we can raise this money for her so that she can be secure for a few more years and have the medicine and care that she deserves. We are so grateful for any donation amount and thank you ahead of time for your love, care, and support.
