Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to ask for your support for my fiancé, Andrew Clay (or of course as many of you know him, Lurch).

What started as a sudden illness that we thought could have been Covid or the flu has turned into a serious medical battle. Andrew is currently hospitalized, fighting both a liver abscess and pneumonia. Thankfully, he has overcome the initial sepsis that he had when first admitted, but the liver abscess is still being drained through a tube in his side and the pneumonia has required him to be on continued oxygen therapy. While he is receiving great care from the doctors and nurses, the road to recovery is going to be long and expensive.

The Challenge

Because Andrew does not have health insurance, we are facing an uphill battle. To fully clear the infection and prevent further complications, he will require extended IV antibiotic treatments even after he is discharged from the hospital and follow up with a liver specialist to ensure that there is no long term damage from the infection.

As many of you know, the cost of specialized home medical equipment and life-saving medications is overwhelming when paid entirely out of pocket.
