Help Allie's Rehab and Home Transition Needs

Donation protected
9/30/24 where did the month of September go? It wasn't a good one for us, so we are hoping and praying that October is a month of progress, healing and movement! We can not thank everyone enough for the generous donations to get Allie and her family the items they need. We have many projects underway that will make being in a wheelchair (hopefully a walker, but no clue if or when) easier. There are handicap accessible items that need to be added to their home, to name a few, flooring, comfort height toilets, grab bars and fencing in the yard so Allie can be there with their wonderful 3 dogs. We are still waiting to get some nursing help during the weekdays, it is quite the process! Allie herself wanted to share an update she gave on 9/27/24. We are so thankful to our amazing "tribe"Allie update

It has been a pretty difficult few months for our daughter Allie. For those that don’t know, Allie, 34 who is married to Alex and has 2 children Talen (13) Kinleigh (9) had hip surgery at the end of July to repair a torn labrum She has had a really tough recovery. While Allie was being treated for blood clots in her leg and lung a week and half after the surgery, she suddenly had an “event” that has left her completely paralyzed on her right side. She went into the hospital walking and talking and a week later left unable to speak, eat solid foods, walk or move her entire body. The hospital discharged her with no wheelchair, no walker and no plan of getting her therapy, answers or results. We have been frustrated and angry. Finally last week we got to see Dr Crowell who has done more for her in a week than others have in a month! Allie is always so vibrant and on the go. This has been incredibly difficult to see her unable to do anything on her own. She is currently doing physical, occupational and speech therapy with the neuro rehab center. We are transitioning her to be back home with her family who she really misses. Alex Talen and Kinleigh have been nothing short of amazing. My sister has been staying with Allie during the day to care for her as she can’t be on her own for long periods of time and Alex has to return to his job.
There are a lot of expenses that are piling up and we want Allie be able to feel safe and at ease while still recovering at her home. We are hoping to raise money to improve their home conducive to Allie’s new needs and will also be looking for a handyman to help with the repairs as Alex has been working non stop and taking on a new role of mom and dad. It is a long and difficult road to hopefully a full recovery. We feel blessed to have so many friends and family that have been here for us and have asked us how to help. As her mom, I can say this is by far one of the most difficult things i have had to endure, but I know Allie is a fighter and will get through this. For now, we are adapting to a new norm and continue to stay positive and be here for Allie and her family. Thank you again especially for the prayers!
