Help Aditi's Fight Against Burn Injuries

Tax deductible

We found Aditi* lying on the sidewalk in Mysore. She had been literally dumped there and left for dead. From what we could see, both legs were wrapped in gauze, blood and pus were visible, and ants were eating at her flesh. The scent of rotting flesh surrounded her.

We called an ambulance and had her admitted at a hospital we know well. Aditi started speaking a bit, and the ER doctor examined her and determined that she had been burned on more than 45% of her body by soup (sambar) that someone in her home had thrown onto her.

Unfortunately, the burns had not been immediately cared for or properly dressed, so she developed eschar, a layer of dead skin that needs to fall off before skin grafting can begin. The doctors said that 20% of her healthy skin will need to be used for the skin graft, leaving her with 60% exposure during the healing process.

Aditi needs to be in the hospital for months. Our people provide the 24/7 attendant presence required, feeding and caring for her needs in the hospital. The estimated daily in-patient expenses for the next few months are $125 or approximately $3,750 per month.

A complaint has been filed with the police against the alleged perpetrator who burned Aditi and left her for dead on the sidewalk.

We would appreciate any assistance that you can provide to help Aditi. You may email us at info at operation dash shanti dot org.
