Why Your Help Matters
Aceh, a province in northern Sumatra, Indonesia, has been devastated by catastrophic floods and landslides. Over thousands of lives have been lost and remain missing, and millions are displaced. Entire villages are cut off because roads and bridges have collapsed, and communication lines are down. In Bireuen alone, nine bridges were destroyed, severing the Medan–Banda Aceh highway. Families have no electricity, clean water, food, or medicine. Many have lost homes and contact with loved ones — and tragically, lives have been lost.
This tragedy is worsened by environmental mismanagement and lack of adequate government response, leaving vulnerable communities isolated and dependent on volunteers. Without direct help, these families face hunger, disease, and despair. It has been more than 2 weeks, and the government is still not providing the aid necessary to be provided to these people. People are now dying because of starvation and diseases.
Our Response
Due to this tragedy, our holiday will take on a new purpose — giving back to those affected. My family and I will visit Aceh on 20th December with the intention to deliver necessities personally to the hardest-hit communities. We aim to bring food, clean water, medicine, and other essentials directly to those who need them most.
Any donation, big or small, is welcome. Your contribution will go straight to families who have lost everything.
May Allah reward everyone who contributes and ease the hardships of those affected.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261)
