Abigail Petrosis has been a fighter her entire life. Her journey began at just 17 years old when she faced kidney failure for the first time. Diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy, a rare autoimmune disease, her life was turned upside down. From her childhood home in Kingman, Arizona, Abigail was airlifted to Phoenix, where she fought for her life for nearly a year. Through resilience and an incredible act of love, her mother became her kidney donor, giving her the chance to live again.

Fast forward 20 years, and Abigail continues to fight. The same disease has progressed, and now it’s attacking her kidney once more. Despite years of treatment, dedication to her health, and unwavering strength, Abigail is again facing renal failure. She is currently on dialysis, waiting for a new kidney to bring hope and healing back into her life.

Abigail has a potential donor, and she has a dedicated care team in Seattle ready to perform the transplant. However, the road to recovery is not without obstacles. The donor is out of state, and the cost of transportation, lodging, and excess medical expenses—both for Abigail and her donor—are far beyond what insurance covers. In addition, over the next year, Abigail will be traveling from Soldotna to East End Road in Homer for dialysis every other day. This is a two-hour journey each way, and as Abigail is unable to drive herself, she needs assistance with travel costs.

Abigail’s healing journey also requires a strict diet of fresh, raw fruits and vegetables, with organ meats as her primary source of protein.
