I rarely ask for help. I have prided myself on assisting others during difficult times. I understand the profound impact and relief it can bring to those in need. However, I find myself in a situation where I need help myself.
Unfortunately, an eviction process has begun for the house I’ve lived in for over 11 years and 3 months, without missing a single rent payment. The issue stems from floor damage caused by a fridge that came with the house. Not my fridge! The owner’s attorney has made it appear that the renter (me) is at fault, which is not the case.
As I write this, attorneys are now getting involved, and regardless of the outcome, we will have to move. Unfortunately, there’s no way for us to do that until the end of May and they have the nerve to want us out by 22 April. I have a fixed retirement income and a disabled combat veteran, and this situation will trigger an actual court order to make us leave. However, we will still be required to pay court costs, moving costs (since I am a disabled vet and will have to hire movers), first and last months rents and security deposit, and it’s overwhelming.
If you’re able to help, I humbly ask for any support you can provide. I promise to make it up to all of you in the near future. Thank you.
