Aid a Veteran's Fight Against Cancer and Home Hazards
Donation protected
I am a 76-year-old disabled Army veteran. In addition to my Agent Orange poisoning health issues (diabetes, heart disease, neuropathy, and vascular disease), I am now also battling esophageal cancer with 25 radiation treatments and chemotherapy weekly. I have discovered that my heat and air conditioning duct work in my crawl space is damaged, leaking, and has old rodent and other critter activity.
To add to the duct issues, they are sagging and have dirt and debris collecting from years past. These issues were not discovered on my pre-purchase home inspection. Over the past few months, dust and other air contaminants have been covering my home's interior and are creating respiratory issues for me.
Also, as shown in the picture, rainwater is flowing from the crawlspace entryway, down the wall, and into the crawlspace (walk-in mostly). That is also creating dampness and mold buildup, which is adding to my respiratory issues.
Quotes for installing new ducts, a new vapor barrier, and gutters and downspouts with an underground drainage extension total $6,485.00, and my VA disability compensation and social security monthly are not enough to cover this. I really need help now.
