Aid a Single Dad, Veteran, and His Kids

I served in the Army as a 68W combat medic from 2008-2015 before I was medically discharged with combat-related PTSD, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. Although my goal was to make a career, my time was cut short due to my experiences in combat.

Since getting out, I have had some successes that were cut short by some unexpected life events. Through it all, I continue to put one foot in front of the other to provide the best life I can for my children. I am a single father of a 15-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter.

My shortcomings have not been due to any drug or alcohol abuse. In fact, part of the reason I fell into such financial hardship was due to the fact that I knew and felt I could provide a better, healthier, safer future for my kids.

Long story short, we purchased this property we live on. We’ve had to do quite a bit of repairs, and things were going very well. I was let go from my job in July. We started having some plumbing issues that destroyed our kitchen and bathrooms, a roof leak that has destroyed some of our floors and ceiling, our central heat and air went out so we depend on a fireplace and space heaters, and a few less important things.

I am able and capable of employment. I continue to apply for work with no luck at the moment. I do receive compensation from the military for combat-related disability since I was medically retired. Unfortunately, it is gone just as fast as it hits my account.

The GoFundMe would complete all the major repairs to our house, making it a home. It would provide us with a little extra to do the maintenance that needs to be done and a little more to get caught up on the things I’ve fallen behind on. Even if we don’t meet our goal, every $1 is a blessing, and we will be so thankful! God bless you all! Micah 7:8

Yeah, I have a story to tell. And things just fell apart this July. Everything at once. I’m bouncing back but I can’t catch up enough to keep up! I prayed on what to do. And I know everything is in His timing. But asking for help is probably what I need to do. I have to continue to put my kids first. And they deserve much better than I can provide right now. These are the best kids anyone has ever met. So happy, respectful, full of life, humble, smart. They are also very caring and selfless, a lot of the same qualities as me. But they see me struggle which can teach them a lot. But they don’t need to suffer in the process.
