Aid a First Responder
Donation protected
We all depend upon first responders for prevention of tragedies and for help when tragedy strikes in our lives. Police, firemen, emergency medical personnel all are expected to be constantly available, fully trained & equipped, and ready to sacrifice their lives if necessary for us. We don't spend a lot of time thinking about such because there is very little that we can do to express our appreciation for the sacrifices such men and women make for us.
This is your opportunity to aid a first responder in real need with real help.
Lennie Hartzog led a quiet life of service with variouspolice departments and emergency medical services throughout. she has completed substantial training in both areas and has served our communities more than 30 years.

She's one of the heroic but largely anonymous first responders upon whom we depend for so much. Although Lenny was a full-time emergency medical technician such jobs pay so little that she could not make ends meet without some additional income on the side. So she had been driving for Lyft which was working until the early morning hours of September 23rd when a passenger she picked up beat her severely threatening her life.
Her injuries included:
* a concussion with substantial post-concussion issues
* a broken nose
* a devastating 3-piece shoulder fracture requiring surgery and insertion of a plate and 7 screws
* injuries to the left eye socket resulting in yet to stabilize vision changes and distortion of physical appearance
* a foot injury damaging circulation and requiring surgery
* a broken tooth requiring order oral surgery
* damage to her bladder causing urinary incontinence
* substantial and unstable post-traumatic stress disorder
Lennie has been unable to work since this vicious attack. Lyft takes the position that their drivers are independent contractors and as such Lyft has no liability. Since Lennie was not injured on her full-time paramedic job, it has no liability either. She has been surviving because of her very modest lifestyle, her meager savings (soon to be exhausted) and the generosity a few of her fellow Auburn high School alumni (who will remain anonymous here but not in God's eyes).
As a result of this extraordinairly violent attack, Lennie will be unable to continue the career in which she has invested more than 30 years of training and experience. At the moment she has no idea what she's going to do to make money to survive. Furthermore her injuries are so bad she may not be able to live alone but may require constant care.
It is possible that she will be able to sue her attacker for images however we all know how problematic that can be. Even if she successfully sues him it will take years in the court system and she may never see a dime anyway.
These realities have led me to organize this GoFundMe campaign by which I hope to raise at least $10,000 by *8* October 2019 to provide Lennie with funds to relieve her immediate needs. This campaign is so important and right to me that I will match the first thousand dollars given dollar for dollar. Every dollar given goes to Lennie, less go fund me fees transaction fees of 2.9% of each donation + $0.30 per donation. I am attempting to set up my finances so as the cover all of the GoFundMe fees so that 100% of your donation would go to Lennie.
Please carefully consider giving something to this cause and inviting your friends and neighbors to do the same I understand that your budgets are tight and that the charities you support are as worthy as this. However this is a unique and limited time opportunity to help someone who has put her life on the line for you and your neighbors over and over again for 30 years
