Help Aïcha, Mahamat & Moussa Build a New Life in the U.S.

Donation protected
After 11 years in a refugee camp, Aïcha and Mahamat have been resettled in Dallas, Texas, with their one-and-a-half-year-old son, Moussa. Now, the support they were promised has fallen through.

Their Story
In 2013, civil war forced Aïcha and Mahamat to flee their homes in the Central African Republic. They spent over a decade in a refugee camp in Chad, facing harsh conditions with little hope for the future. But even in adversity, they met in the camp, fell in love, and built a family. Now, after years of waiting, they’ve been given a chance to rebuild their lives in the U.S.—but they need your help.

Why They Need Your Help
Due to recent funding cuts, the organization that was supposed to help them settle in can’t provide the support they desperately need. Right now, they are focusing full-time on learning English, but without financial assistance, they’re struggling to cover rent, utilities, food, and basic essentials.

How You Can Make a Difference
We’re raising funds to help them get on their feet in these critical first months. Every dollar goes toward:
  • Rent & utilities
  • Groceries & essentials
  • Transportation & daily needs

EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS! Even $10 can help them keep the lights on.

Please donate today and give this young family the fresh start they deserve.

Can’t donate? Please share! Spreading the word is just as powerful.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

More about refugee resettlement
Only a small fraction of refugees worldwide are considered for resettlement, and they don’t get to choose which country they go to. Instead, UNHCR and resettlement countries (like the U.S.) decide where a refugee is sent based on factors like family ties, security screenings, and the country's capacity to help.

If selected for resettlement in the U.S., refugees go through extensive background checks, medical exams, and interviews conducted by U.S. government agencies. This process can take years. Once approved, nonprofit organizations help them adjust to life in the U.S. by providing housing, job support, and other services to help them rebuild their lives. Unfortunately, these services are no longer financed and people like Aïcha, Mahamat, and Moussa will fall through the cracks.
