Hi everyone,

my name is Brittany and Chris is my father in law. On June 25, 2022 we received a call that soon changed our lives. Chris was on his motorcycle and was cut off by a young driver, causing him serious injuries. To start- He spent 6 weeks in the ICU. We were told he would not make it and was on life support but by the grace of god, he is still with us. During those 6 weeks he went through multiple brain surgeries, craniotomy, draining tubes to remove fluid, he also suffered all broken ribs on the right side and broken clavicle. After those 6 weeks he was moved to step down unit and now he is on the trauma floor. He is in a hospital in NJ. Just last week social worker came up to me and said sorrry we didn’t realize he lives in PA, we can’t help with health insurance for him anymore or charity help for his hospital bills. Now- due to Chris owning his home, having no health insurance, being told he’s unable to get state help due to assets, etc. we are left with millions of dollars in medical bills, and in the next month- they told us he will be discharged home under our care needing 24/7 care, with no rehab services or anything covered. I have exhausted all options on any insurance for him at this time. He has been denied time and time again. We have a lawyer working on his case as well, and have gone to the state rep. We now are in the process of remodeling his home to make it better for him to come home to, along with now needing to pay caregivers so we are able to keep our jobs. Chris is unable to walk, his cognitive function is still minimal, and he will require many medical interventions when he is home along with medications that will not be covered. This has been a very long road, and is eating away at our pockets. If there is anything you can do to help with the care he will require in the next coming weeks, it would be so appreciated. We just want him back to his old self. And without the proper therapy and care, the chances aren’t looking so well. We are doing everything we possibly can to get the right services in place.
