On April 26, 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon to raise funds for Brain Research UK, an incredible organisation dedicated to funding research into neurological conditions that affect millions of people worldwide.
I recently realised that I’m now around the same age my dad was when he was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in October 2000. Despite everything he went through, he lived life with strength, courage and resilience. He was in remission from 2004 to 2010, but the tumour eventually returned, more aggressive and cancerous. There was no cure. In 2011, we lost him.
Watching him fight such a devastating illness while still being the amazing, strong man I looked up to changed my life. I want to honour his memory and everything he stood for by doing something that makes a real impact.
That’s why I’m running the London Marathon for a cause close to my heart. Brain Research UK focuses on improving outcomes for those living with brain tumours, strokes, Alzheimer’s disease, and other life-changing conditions. The work they do is vital, and I’m honoured to support their mission through this marathon challenge.
Brain tumours are among the most aggressive and under-researched forms of cancer. They receive only a small fraction of cancer research funding, yet they devastate lives. I want to help change that. By running this marathon, I hope to raise awareness and support for vital research that could lead to earlier detection, better treatments, and one day, a cure.
I’m aiming to raise £3,500 for Brain Research UK to help fund life-changing research and give hope to others affected by these horrible illnesses.
Thank you for reading, and for any support you can give, whether it’s a donation, sharing my story, or simply cheering me on.
