In 2021, the Athens High School (AHS) Class of 2011 will celebrate its tenth anniversary. On behalf of the tenth anniversary, the Class of 2011 would like to express appreciation to the Athens Community and the Athens City Schools system.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the class will likely not be holding a reunion to celebrate its tenth anniversary. In place of a reunion, the AHS Class of 2011 developed the idea of running a scholarship campaign to award scholarships to graduating seniors from the AHS Class of 2021. The purpose of these scholarships is to provide financial assistance to students who wish to pursue their educational goals. Many students depend on scholarships or other financial aid packages to cover their education expenses. The Class of 2011 recognizes the impact this has on students and their families; thus, we want to help.
The AHS Class of 2011 is raising funds to give back to the Athens community, which has supported them throughout the years. The AHS Class of 2011 will award scholarships based on a scholarship application process, which the AHS Class of 2011 developed through collaboration. Based on achieving or exceeding our goal of $2,000, the Class of 2011 will determine the number of scholarships to award. The class will distribute scholarship funds no later than May 15, 2021.
The AHS Class of 2011 appreciates any help from the Athens, Alabama community to support our students with their educational aspirations. We will post regular updates as we go through the scholarship application process, selecting a scholarship recipient, and distributing scholarship funds.
