Auburndale Boys’ Soccer
2019 Class 4A State Champions
Who are we? We are AUBURNDALE!
The AHS Boys’ Soccer team is seeking financial donations to purchase the team state championship rings. Each ring is an estimated $300, and each donation will bring us one step closer to purchasing rings for this championship team.
Our journey to greatness began just five short months ago with twelve returning players from the 2017-2018 season, a three-year record of 60-9-5, and a ranking of third in the state of Florida. Beginning this year’s season with 8-0-0 record, scoring 49 goals while giving up only three, we flew to San Clemente, California in December for a third appearance in the 2018 Lotto Sport Western Showcase. Although, looking for a first place win, we finished fourth overall. After returning to Florida, the game shifted as the seniors took to the field with one goal in mind – win the state championship. By the end of the regular season, and heading into playoffs, we had a winning season of 15-2-1. Each game, each win, we became more hopeful, yet remained completely humble. The state championship was becoming more and more attainable. After winning the district championship against Winter Haven, then winning the regional championship against Melbourne, we knew in our hearts, the state championship was ours for the taking. With a 3-0 win in the regional semi-finals against Fletcher, the championship game was on the horizon. One more game; one more team – we just had to give it our all and leave it all on the field. And leave it we did. After an intense game, WE became the 2019 4A State Champions with a 5-3 win over Ft. Lauderdale. This win met with cheers for the fans at the game, congratulatory comments from those watching at home, and a promised parade and state championship ring.
The City of Auburndale gave us the welcome of a lifetime – honoring us with a hometown parade and recognizing each teammate in a ceremony in front of city hall. We were celebrated a season with a record of 23-2-1; a season undefeated in the state of Florida scoring 122 goals and 23 against; and a season ending with a state championship. In the USA Today soccer rankings, AHS Boys’ Soccer was ranked 4th in the nation – an outstanding accomplishment. And now, to commemorate our accomplishments, we are working towards earning a State Championship ring, which represents our dedication, hard work, and perseverance on [and off] the field and will forever embody this moment in our lives.
This is where YOU come in. We are reaching out to the community and seeking sponsors to help alleviate the [estimated] $300 cost of each state ring. Your support can help provide each player with a lifelong reminder of this incredible accomplishment; a reminder that determination is key to success; a reminder that together, We Are Auburndale!
