Ahrens Family Fire Recovery Fund

On Mother's Day, my wife and I were awakened to our detached 2 car garage completely engulfed in flames. We had to grab our sleeping children, including my 3 week old son, from their beds and rush out the front door of the house while calling 911. The Bettendorf Fire Dept. was able to put out the fire, but not before it had completely destroyed our garage and all of its contents, including our 2 vehicles.  The oak tree in our backyard will likely have to be completely removed due to damage sustained. The heat from the fire also damaged several of our neighbors' garages and property.

Thankfully, no one was injured and the fire did not severely damage anyone's home.

However, because of the utter destruction caused by the fire, the necessary repairs and replacement of items will likely be much more expensive than what our homeowner's insurance and auto insurance will cover.

My family had just purchased and paid off one of the vehicles that was lost in the fire. We had also recently spent money repairing our other vehicle and spent a significant amount of money getting some home repairs done. The bulk of our savings had went to these projects and purchasing items for our newborn son; it will be a struggle to pay the $3000 in deductibles, tree removal, and other costs associated with the fire.

It is also likely our neighbors will have to collectively pay thousands of dollars in insurance deductibles to have their insurance companies fund the repairs needed to their homes and garages.

To help pay for the insurance deductibles for us and our neighbors, we are asking for any donations our friends, families, and community members can contribute. The funds will also be used to help us make ends meet with the cost of rebuilding a garage, tree removal, and replacing the items lost in the fire.

Any donations or shares of our campaign will be truly appreciated.
