Hello Everyone,

My name is Brandon and I am reaching out for your help, to help the Chambliss family.

Aiden their oldest child went to the doctor Thursday and was diagnosed with a double ear infection with aggravated asthma. Early next morning around 3:30 am he woke and complained of bad chest pain. His mother told him to take his inhalers, they did not help, so she took him into the ER.

Once there, the doctor was not overly concerned and said he probably just pulled a muscle in his chest from coughing. He instructed them to give him some cough medicine and ride it out. The staff was ready to give them their discharge papers and send them on their way.

But before they got the papers the doctor came back in and said he noticed his heart rate was in the 160s when they were taking him to get x-rays and said he wanted to do another test before they left.

The doctor ordered a troponin blood test. The results came back above 10, when it should be under 0.03. An hour later they ran the test again and it came back above 18. The doctor said he needs to be taken to the children's hospital and evaluated by a pediatric cardiologist. He was taken by ambulance to the children's hospital.

Once at the children's hospital another troponin test was ran with the results coming back at almost 1500. The cardiologist said it was a strong indication for a diagnosis of Myocarditis. They put an IV in each of his arms, one in his left arm for a 12 hour antibody therapy and one in his right for steroids and antibiotics.

The last update we received (as of this writing) he still has a high heart rate and is running a fever.

He has been diagnosed with Acute Viral Myocarditis and is still undergoing observation. Acute Myocarditis is one of the most challenging diseases to diagnose and treat in cardiology.
