This week I was accepted into my first writing workshop, VONA, a workshop specifically for writers of color. I am so honored, excited, and inspired to spend a week learning from incredible poets such as Ruth Forman and Willie Perdomo.
For those who don't know, I am a poet. I received my MFA in writing almost three years ago. Since then I have been writing nonstop, attending conferences, wrote a chapbook, and organize and teach workshops on poetic prose.
Attending VONA means the world to me. It is an opportunity to dive deeper into my book, Black and Bluprints, and network with influential writers. However this year the workshop is at the University of Miami, no longer in Berkeley, so I need some financial assistance making this happen. I got a $400 scholarship from VONA which means I am well on my way! Here is the financial breakdown of what I need to make this happen.
Workshop cost $950 - $250 (family)- $400 (scholarship) = $300
Plane Ticket $550
Housing $650
Any contributions will be so helpful!
Thank you! Dua Dua Dua!
