Salam Walaikum (Peace be upon you)
On 22nd July 2025, I will be attempting to walk 100,000 steps in a single day — a challenge that will test my physical and mental limits.
I'm doing this to support those in need in the impoverished countries around the world who so desperately need our help, a cause I consider very close to my heart, done through the incredible work of the MATW Project (Muslims Around The World).
Why 100,000 Steps?
I’ve always loved walking. Whether it’s tracking my daily steps or going on long walks to clear my mind, it’s something that’s become a big part of my life.
One day, I thought: if I’m going to dedicate the effort, time, and energy into walking 100,000 steps in one day — why not do it for a greater purpose?
This challenge represents more than just numbers on a step counter.
It’s about endurance, sacrifice, and intention — the essence of sadaqah. It’s a physical reminder of those who walk for miles every day just to survive. It’s a way to turn something I love into a means of giving back.
Why MATW?
The MATW Project, founded by the late Ali Banat is dedicated to building a better future for the world’s most vulnerable people.
From constructing water wells and schools, to providing food, medical aid, and shelter — their work is a form of sadaqah jariyah: charity that keeps on giving.
