I am 18years old a senior in High-school Rayan is and my brother Ahmed is 10yrs old is in 5th grade and has a clival chordoma aka brain tumor that has been there for years apparently growing to the size of a tennis ball and also so close to the carotid arteries but no one knew this. The kind of surgery Ahmed

needs takes all day i Operating room and weeks to get scheduled. His care in and out of hospitals since finding out the bills are adding up and has costs a insurance is private but our family plan has copayments and deductibles etc.

We live in Orange County California and my mom works in the midwest my brother was not feeling good and my grama thought it was flu so since he he called her a-lot in holidays and her husband

Didn't take my brother to E.R. she felt nervous and

She flew home 12/31/21 to see him and take him to doctor. On new years day 2022 she saw his right eye closed in all the family pictures after 2 clinics said he was fine that week and after lots of tests and different hospitals

She took Ahmed to an E.R. by our house and they scanned his head to give her peace of mind because it was late night and headaches didn't go away with tylenol .

Well the er doctor came running with the results screaming down the hall my brother had cancer and he started crying and in that night my mom said she thought she was dreaming

And would rather have the earth open up and sallow her whole than to see my brother crying like that. It was devastating.

That was the first night he was diagnosed with a mass the size of a tennis ball pushing on his brain steam and his cranial nerves. There were a-lot of choc doctors trying to figure out how to Take the tumor out.

My mom was praying alot and she said she made her mind to go out of California.

She flew him by NYC after seeing on YouTube Chordomas being removed in PA, and because she was worried when UCI and CHOC neurosurgeons failed to get a tissue sample from their temple biopsy surgery they did on my little brother for 2 hours. He was in PICU and was not breathing well without oxygen.

That night in PICU My mom could not sleep she was getting all his records together to fedex to Children hospital out east where they are specifically trained to take out these chordomas.

Our family was told that the tumor was not able to be poked or open for sample for the lab at children's hospital Orange County so we still do not know if my brother has cancer or not. That has been his biggest worry because he does want to know but we are grateful for what we do know about his tumor.

Also when choc was not able to do tumor removal my brother was transferred to UCI in irvine ca and skull surgeons there ordered a craniotomy surgery to open his head.

But by then my mom took Ahmed by herself to get Ahmed is tumor removed safely and they have a team of surgeons on the east coast Hopefully soon.

We were all worried but we got to visit him In PA this weekend and i am feeling better about the surgery he will have using new robotics through his nose verses opening his head.

My mom said she is hoping Ahmed is tumor will help the researchers on their pathology studies in lab to come up with a way to diagnose

these tumors early . He opted to donate his tumor to science. she has been reading up on "Ultrasound technology "an how Safe it is for newborns to be scanned on top of heads to look

for hemorrhage. shes looking for techs with innovative research on whole

body scans to safely alert families and kids of the problem of presence of-an abnormal mass such as a tumor hiding its self behind and wrapping around critical vessels like carotid arteries. If this machine doesn't exists
