Hello kind-hearted people,

My name is Ahmed Hossam Al-Barbari, I’m a 23-year-old university student from Gaza, Palestine.

Due to the ongoing war, I have lost my home, my education, and my job. My family and I have been displaced 8 times – six times to the south of Gaza and twice to the north – constantly seeking safety and shelter. Sadly, we are currently living in a tent, as rent prices are too high and we simply cannot afford them.

We are a family of 7 members: my father Hossam (51 years old), my mother Reem (44 years old), myself Ahmed (23 – the eldest son), my sister Layan (18), my brother Imad (15), my sister Lujain (10), and my youngest sister Lama (7).

My house was completely destroyed. The war has left us with nothing but pain, fear, and deep uncertainty. We face severe shortages of food and water, and my father is burdened with heavy debts from trying to keep us alive.

Day by day, my family and I are deteriorating from hunger. We have no source of income, and our debts have increased dramatically since the beginning of the war. We urgently need $70 to $100 per day just to cover the basic necessities: overpriced food like flour, rice, and lentils, clean drinking water, and washing water. We also have to pay for charging batteries and phones with money because there is no electricity, and we must buy expensive internet access to stay connected.

The cash withdrawal fees are extremely high—currently up to 45%—and prices for everything are unrealistically inflated due to the ongoing war.

I had dreams of graduating, building a future, and helping my community. But now, my life has been on hold since the war began. I am reaching out to you, kind souls, asking for your generous support and donations to help me rebuild my life and return to my education.
