A Heart for Larry
Donation protected
My dad, Larry, is in desperate need of a heart transplant. In order to get his name added to the transplant list, he has to show a financial ability to pay for post-operative treatment. At this point, my dad's heart is extremely weak and, without a transplant, my dad's heart will eventually give out. He is only 60 years old and has so much life left. Your help is needed to help him prolong his life. All donations are greatly appreciated!
Who is Larry? Larry is an extraordinary man who has proudly served this country as a member of the United States army. Larry is a devoted husband, amazing father of two daughters, proud grandfather of three grandchildren, a son, oldest of eight children and a friend to many. He is also a man of great faith. He is an ordained minister and has faithfully served the Lord throughout his health ordeal. Despite his own illness, Larry goes to pray with and encourage people in hospitals and clinics. He ministers to people about the greatness of God and has never stopped doubting God's ability to completely restore his own health. Even the doctors and nurses that have interacted with him comment on how positive and optimistic he is, how he is always smiling, and how he is more focused on encouraging others than on whatever is going on with him. His entire life has been dedicated to service to others.
Larry was always the picture of health until he noticed a small mass on his face. In 2005, he was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma. After going through chemotheraphy for almost a year, Larry was determined to be cancer-free. However, his health scares were not over. He was later diagnosed with congestive heart failure and has struggled (with a smile) for years. In 2011, we thought we were going to lose him. He spent a week on life support after his organs began to fail. By the grace of God, he pulled through but his heart was still weak. In 2014, an LVAD was implanted into my dad.
The LVAD or "left ventricular assist device" is implanted under the skin. It helps to electronically pump blood from the left ventricle of the heart and on to the rest of the body. A control unit and battery pack are worn outside the body and are connected to the LVAD through a port in the skin. This is not a permanent solution to congestive heart failure. It merely serves as a bridge to the heart transplant.
The heart transplant is Larry's only chance for a long life. Larry has given so much and we now want to give back to him . We are asking for your support by donating today. Thank you in advance!
