SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN TO ANY WOMAN: Here is our story:

Hi, our names are Cheryl and Lynette and we are Diana’s sisters. We are raising funds to help our sister, a single mom, with medical expenses as she begins chemotherapy for a breast cancer diagnosis she received this year. A little bit about her story: in 2021, she felt a lump in her breast, went to her OBGYN, and was sent to get a 3D mammogram. Results came back, nothing even showed on the final report. Come March of 2022, she noticed that the lump was growing. She brought it up to her OBGYN again. The first available appointment they would see her was May. By the time this appointment rolled around, the lump could now be seen through her skin. She now had to wait for the mammogram appointment. Come August 2022, Diana finally gets the mammogram appointment. Results were read immediately. The lump was now 9cm…. The size of a baseball…It was read by the radiologist as “probably benign”. She was told by the dr at the breast center that she could leave it in her body as long as it wasn’t bothering her. She told that doctor it was growing and she wanted it out and requested surgery to remove it along with a breast reduction. At this point, with a mass that big Diana should’ve had a biopsy. Her OBGYN, told her it wasn’t necessary. That the radiologist said it was benign. Well, it wasn’t benign. It was Lobular Carcinoma and it was growing. She already had stage 2 breast cancer and had no idea.

Fast forward to January of 2023. The reduction was done, the mass (which was now 11 cm) was removed, and pathology came back. IT’S CANCER. Our world was turned upside down that day. While she was recovering from surgery, it was decided that she would start oral chemotherapy, and she would go on to have a full mastectomy. 2 major surgeries within 5 months of each other. Pathology from the mastectomy came back and the cancer was now in her lymph nodes. Our hearts are broken. She will now begin IV chemotherapy tomorrow morning (6/29/2023). After the 4 rounds of chemotherapy, she will then start radiation. She will be sick. She will lose all her hair. She will be weak. These are all things we were told upfront by her team of doctors. This poor mom has been put through hell and back. Why didn’t they listen and biopsy her sooner? Her new amazing team of doctors are outraged that it wasn’t done. So are we. She was put through 2 surgeries when it could have been only one. If it was caught sooner, maybe it wouldn’t have spread. These are all thoughts that we will never know the answers too. The medical expenses are building with each day. Please help and donate anything you can to help this amazing single mother and her precious boys. Those boys are her life. Funds will be used for medical bills, meals and expenses for her boys while she begins her journey on chemo. If you can’t donate, please pray for our family. Pray for strength for Diana and her boys, Jacob, Lucas and Christian. And if you or anyone you know, has a lump in their breast, advocate for yourself. Get a biopsy. It’s a quick procedure that can save your life. Thank you for taking the time to read her story, and please share it with every woman in your life.
