Humera Alvi to go to IED Florence

Hello. My name is Humera, and I'm trying to find funding in order to go for my masters to Italy.
It has been an odd couple of months of applying, writing essays, completing tests - all with the perspective of "you're probably not going to get in, but what's the harm in trying?"
That perspective shifted when not only did I get in, but also won their scholarship competition. This made me cry for two reasons. The first - they found ME to be their best candidate? Out of applicants from all over the world? Is this even real?
The second reason why I cried was because even with the scholarship, I knew this was a big ask from my family. They've supported me in all of my educational endeavours all my life - but you know how there is this invisible, unspoken line that you acknowledge and don't cross? This was that. It was too much to ask for.
But I asked anyway. Because you don't get what you don't ask for, right? And of course, my parents were upset and concerned. They asked me to defer to next year (the scholarship can't be deferred, I asked), they asked me to consider a different university (other universities abroad are far more expensive), they asked me to apply for a student loan (not offered), and a bunch of other things. I've exhausted all of them.
So that brings us here.
To a vulnerable place where I'm asking strangers to please help me fund my education. If you're able to support me in any way, big or small, I'll appreciate it and be forever grateful.
A little about me – I live in Karachi, Pakistan. I have an undergraduate degree in Communication Design from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture where I was awarded a Distinction in my thesis, placed on the Dean’s list and the Honour’s list in several semesters, and gotten recognised for my design and illustration work, most notably through being selected for, and winning second place in the National Digital Design Conference (N2DC) in 2017.
I have founded and managed two small businesses - Mocha & Co, which I set up about 9 years ago, and @Onemoremochalatteplease about 2 years ago. Mocha and Co is about "Crocheting Everything Humanly Possible", whereas @Onemoremochalatteplease is my own illustration and graphic design brand to which I dedicate most of my time these days.You can check both of them out on Instagram to see some of my work. I am also a proud cat mama to Chip and Cinnamon.
I have been a public speaker and an activist all my life – I volunteer often with Aurat March (a Pakistani women’s right movement) and other community initiatives. I have also had work experience in organisations such as Dawn.com (Pakistani newspaper), Aga Khan University Hospital, and Oxford University Press, among others.
I have been accepted for a Master’s in Graphic Design at IED University in Florence. I have been awarded their most prestigious scholarship which will cover 50% of my tuition fee. The total cost of the studies €16,200 Tuition + €3,000 enrolment fee + approx. €12,500 for accommodation/living/flights in Italy for a year. The programme starts in January 2021.
Thanks to the scholarship and my personal savings (which are very limited), I am able to cover for large parts of this, and am looking for support for around €16,500. I will be forever grateful to anyone who contributes to this and you will make a big impact in my life.
This fundraiser is being conducted by Misha Mayet as Humera is based in Pakistan where GoFundMe fundraisers cannot be started. The funds will directly be transferred to Humera’s account by Misha.
