I have been living on the road in the USA since the very end of 2020 in my vintage trailer and Jeep, and I am extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to experience this lifestyle after finishing my master's in environmental engineering in Vancouver, BC. Unfortunately on March 22 I was crossing the mountains in CO, with no winter weather warning, when the snow picked up and the wheels of my trailer slipped and fish-tailed out, taking me and my Jeep into the base of a cliff. The trailer flipped and the wood frame exploded. Luckily I was not hurt, the Jeep hit the rock at a slow speed and was driveable afterwards so I could make it out to family. 

I have been very responsible to keep myself safe, and am paying out of my ears in car and health insurance (from Canada). Unfortunately, I was not aware that the trailer was not insured for single vehicle collisions. The trailer makes up less than 5% of the insurance costs, and it's very disheartening that insurance companies do not care to protect customers, especially when the additional cost is almost negligible. I am reaching out for alternative help to get back on the road. The goal is less than the value of the trailer but enough to get me something workable as a replacement. I've put over $7000 into the restoration/title, plus $600 to dispose of the trailer from the highway with me there for 6 hours helping shovel and organize all the pieces!

It is my goal to not let this situation stop me from continuing my journey before beginning my career this summer. Getting to know different environments and communities has been invaluable to me and made me stronger, more empathetic and motivated to give back to everyone who has helped me along the way. The kindness I have experienced so far has forever changed me, and I would be grateful for any support given to me. I promise I will pay it forward in the future.
