Help Restore My Community After Hurricane Melissa

My name is Dahemah, and I currently live in New York City. I’m raising funds for my family and friends in New Castle, Bethel Town, Westmoreland, Jamaica, whose homes were destroyed by Hurricane Melissa.
The powerful hurricane tore off roofs and left homes severely damaged. My mother's house, our home — the place that held all our memories, comfort, and love — is now destroyed. Other family member's homes were completely totaled with nothing left. My community is left without proper shelter, food, clean water, clothing, and other basic necessities.
They’re doing their best to stay strong, but it’s been incredibly difficult to cope with the destruction left behind.
We are humbly asking for your help to rebuild homes and provide essential items like food, clean water, and clothing.
Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference. With the funds raised we will buy the items below and distribute them throughout the community based on individual needs.
Rebuilding materials — lumber, zinc, cement, steel, sand, stone, building blocks
Food
Personal hygiene items
Water tanks to store clean water
Clothing and bedding
Care packages
Items listed above that are available for purchase in New York City will be bought by me and personally shipped to Jamaica using a local shipping company.
Your kindness, prayers, and generosity mean more than words can say. With your support, we can begin to rebuild not just our homes, but our hope.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, sharing, or donating. Every bit of help brings us closer to rebuilding homes families have lost.
