I am Agustina Robinson. I have had a stutter my whole life. It’s mild, but ultimately exhausting. It comes when I am nervous, scared, and under pressure. I stammer my syllables, my brain tenses up, my eyes twitch, my blood pressure increases, and it feels like the whole world is starring at me. I hate to be starred at, but I love to be in the spotlight. When I’m dancing, singing, or acting, I am in a relaxed state, that decreases the probability of my stutter. Since performing feeds my soul, and gives me energy, I seem to overcome it and I don’t mind all of those eyes on me.
I’ve been doing musical theater since 4th grade with The Seattle Children’s Theater, then went on to The Hi-Liners Musical Theater Company. I picked up trombone in the 4th grade as well, and joined All City Marching Band. I also play guitar, and piano, I am a writer, and an artist. In spite of my stutter, I have successfully played lead roles in plays, musicals and have recited poetry, sang, and played in front of my entire school multiple times.
My family is been stuck in the middle; we don’t qualify for low income support, but, at the same time, we don’t have enough to pay for college on our own. We are trying to raise enough money, so I can go to my dream school.
I am a very artistic person, with so many talents, so it was hard to find a school that completely matched my dreams and goals. Lucky for me, I did. I got in to Columbia College Chicago. There I will be taught the techniques of being an entertainer. Whether it is an actress, singer, director, dancer, or all of the above, I will leave my mark on the world, and go on to do amazing things.
Please donate today! Our goal is to raise $40,000. If 40 people could donate $1,000, we would reach our goal. Yes, $1,000 is a big number, if that is not possible, please donate whatever you can. No amount is too small. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me, and supporting my dreams.
thank you for investing in my future!
