Hi, my name is Ashley lay!When I was four years old, I was diagnosed with optic atrophy, a visual impairment that affects the optic nerves and limits how clearly I can see. Growing up, I was always told that I would never be able to drive, and for years, I accepted that my independence and opportunities would be limited.

Recently, I was blessed to meet a doctor who has given me hope I never thought possible. With special prescription glasses designed for my condition, I can have three different pairs:

• Glasses to drive safely

• Glasses to see things at a distance

• Glasses to read books clearly

These glasses would open up a whole new world for me. They would allow me to do something I never thought I could — drive — giving me freedom, independence, and opportunities that most people take for granted.
